Group Lessons- obligatory and only complementary to the one-to-one lessons
Group lessons: Timetable
155 Highbury Grove
London N5 1SA
Please note group lessons are only available together with weekly one-to-one lessons. Group lessons are as important as individual lessons.
Occasional absence from a group lesson is only granted after arrangements being made with the teacher.
We use a Steinway grand piano and have piano accompaniment for all of our group lessons.
Every student has to bring their own cello stool and spike holder to the group lesson.
If you decide on the Suzuki method with your child, you will receive an additional and obligatory group lesson with your one-to-one cello lesson. Practice and music-related games stimulate the child and observing their peers playing the cello speeds up the learning curve.
It gives parents the opportunity to meet other parents with cello kids. They can exchange and discuss their cello- practice related experiences with regards to their children and this network helps to support each other. It is also the ideal time to have discussions with your cello teacher.
Cello classes aside individual cello lessons are very beneficiary to children as well as adults. It is a social event, which is fun for children as well as adults. A group of people grows together and supports each other. By observing others you learn very quickly. Playing together with others furthers one's ability and capability in ensemble playing. It is a good practice to perform in front of others and prepares for playing on a stage.
Learning with the Suzuki method requests to become a member of either the BSI (British Suzuki Institute) or the LSG (London Suzuki Group). This membership is obligatory and has to be in place before the first lesson (after the observation period). It offers the child a wide range of holiday classes, workshops, and events. (To sign up go to http://londonsuzukigroup.co.uk/membership/ or call 020 3176 4170.) You can pay by direct debit or PayPal.
